#Recipe of the Day: Leftover Pancake Sandwich

Our family loves pancakes so much! However,Ā sometimes (or most of the times), we overly estimate the quantity of pancakes to cook for everyone’s consumption. So, we tend to have left over pancakes. But we all know that pancakes isn’t good to eat anymore if it’s not hot or newly cooked, right? So here’s one good idea to avoid throwing leftover pancakes.

Why not make a pancake sandwich out of the leftover pancakes?! Nice? šŸ™‚

 

You may put your leftover pancakes in a zip-lock, place it in refrigerator and prepare the pancake sandwich for your family as an afternoon snack or breakfast for the following day.

 

What you’ll need:

  • 2 pancakes
  • 1 egg
  • cooking oil
  • 1 sliced ham
  • 1 slice of cheddar cheese
  • maple syrup

 

Let’s get started!

  1. Heat frying pan over medium heat and put cooking oil.
  2. Fry/Warm the ham in the pan. Followed by the egg. Set aside.
  3. Toast the pancake in the toaster or oven.
  4. Assemble the pancake sandwich and put maple syrup before placing the top pancake piece.
  5. Serve and enjoy!

 

No more leftover pancakes! šŸ™‚

1. WAKE UP BEFORE SUNRISE

Waking up early in the morning or before sunrise makes you more productive and gives you a lot of time to get things done. Aside from that, you’ll have time to exercise with the fresh air from morning breeze. More so, you’ll feel good about yourself.

 

2. DRINK 2 GLASSES OF WATER 5 TIMES A DAY

I have recently read this fromĀ The Times of India, that drinking 10 glasses of water a day could actually help us reduce weight. Curious? First of all, if you drink 10 glasses of water a day, you will end up eating less. Second, water helps burn fat. In addition, since we live in a tropical country (Philippines), water saves us from the risk of dehydration.

 

3. DO NOT SKIP BREAKFAST

Don’t be too busy to skip or forget about having breakfast. It may be a clichĆ©, but it’s definitely a fact. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It gives you energy to survive the day, physically and mentally. Yes, mentally, too! If you didn’t skip breakfast, you’ll be alert and more attentive during the day. It boosts your brain and helps you perform your daily tasks with an elevated clarity and awareness.

 

4. PRACTICE “NO JUNK FOOD” RULE

Junk foods are really addictive. They seem so powerful, right? When you decide to refrain from eating junk foods, there will come a time that you’ll say, “Just once…”, “Last one please…”, “It’s my cheat day (EVERYDAY)…”. The fact? We don’t NEED to eat junk foods. We all just need to eat something…otherwise we’ll die from hunger. That is inevitable. And if you want to live longer, avoid unhealthy food. And the same as their advice on drug addiction, COMPLETE ABSTINENCE IS THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS AND WILL TRULY HELP YOU. No cheat day. Period.

 

5. GET 8 HOURS SLEEP AT NIGHT

Sleep affects the quality of life. If you have enough sleep, you’ll live better and longer. Yes, getting enough sleep prolongs life as it gives lower risk of having heart disease, stroke, premature aging, etc. And obviously, if you have enough sleep and rest, it automatically improves your work performance for the following day. One more thing, if you’re on a diet, please do consider earlier bedtime too. The more you stay awake at night, the more likely you’ll feel hungry.

 

6. LAUGH OUT LOUD

Laughter is the best medicine indeed. It makes people feel better. Other than making us feel better from a stressful day at work, school, or home, it also helps you exercise your facial muscles and it’s a great way to boost your heart rate which keeps your from depression.

 

7. FORGET PROCRASTINATION

I still can remember when I first learned what’s procrastination. It’s when I was in 6th grade in a Catholic school in Lucena City, Quezon province; our teacher in Religion subject introduced us all about procrastination. To those who doesn’t know, procrastination is putting off until tomorrow (or later) what you can do today (or right now). To have a happy life, try to avoid delaying things that you know you can finish today or at the moment. Be more efficient and by then you’ll notice that it’ll be paid off big time.

 

8. DRINK A CUP OF GREEN TEA

You should be aware by now that the intake of green tea has A LOT of health benefits. Green tea is loaded with antioxidants and has amazing effects on the body such as improving brain function, fights cancer or lowers the risk of cancer, helps your heart to be on good condition, etc. There’s a ton of write-ups online that you could read about green tea and you’ll find out (and switch to drinking it) why you should take it into consideration.

 

9. TRY SURYA NAMASKAR

Surya namaskar or sun salutation sequence is a Yoga warm up routine which provides a good cardiovascular workout. It helps you energize your body as your stretch and strengthen your major muscles in sun salutation postures. See below image I got fromĀ TheStoryOfLight.org:

10. KEEP IN TOUCH WITH OLD FRIENDS OR FAMILY MEMBERS

Stay connected with your old friends or family members. Call them, meet them, whichever ways you can or prefer. Catch up with them and hear their life stories will make you a better person by learning from their experiences. Sharing or reminiscing your memories with them has a great impact also on your mental health. Laugh with them and feel good that you all surpassed some challenges in life.

 

And last but not the least, PRAY. Prayer makes a lot of difference. Find God’s love and embrace it.
