Natural is Still Best to De-Stress Your Tress

Striking a life balance is no easy task to do. It requires hard work and dedication which sometimes can be strenuous to achieve. Can you imagine how overtaxing it is to juggle between your career and providing for your loved ones?

Studies have shown that stress is commonly caused by interrelationships, such as having to deal with work issues and family-related complications. If left unresolved over time, it could lead to immune deficiency, which later on, might cause other parts of our body to show signs of disruption like hair loss.

Many of us could attest to that. It’s like always autumnal equinox whenever we experience chronic hair fall, most especially at the prime of stress. At its peak, our white blood cells attack no less than the follicles, thus causing alopecia. What’s more, anxiety could drive your mane into a prolonged resting phase, which is called telogen effluvium.

Stress experienced by the body or beyond our coping resources could trigger hair loss symptoms, which, if not addressed properly, could result to early baldness. Worried about this? Fret no more. You can beat it simply by relaxing, eating or flexing some muscles.

Never underestimate the power of sleep. If you feel that you are over your head in dealing with anxieties, choose to rest it off for a while and recharge.

Presented by the Department of Tourism (DOT), and the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), the one-night-only outdoor live music event, with the theme Can’t Stop Movin!, presented the amazing evolution of pop music and its dance influences. The Concert Grounds of SM Mall of Asia was basically on fire as fans danced, cheered and sang their hearts out on hit after hit of iconic and contemporary pop dance music.

World-renowned local artists, Mr. Pure Energy Gary V. and his son, Gab Valenciano opened up the stage with an intense set of performance. Filipino favourite teen love team, James Reid and Nadine Lustre followed, sending fans high above the love cloud with their kilig-filled performance.

American singer-songwriter, Bebe Rhexia also pumped up the stage with her hit songs including “Me, Myself and I” and “Broken Hearts”. Fans also went wild as A-Pink, one of Korea’s favorite K-pop idol female groups, flawlessly performed “Remember”, “Mr. Chu”, “Luv” and “No No No”. L.A. grown electronic dance trio Far East Movement got everyone singing, dancing and jumping with their hit singles, “Like a G6” and “Rocketeer”. The headliner, prolific hit-maker, One Republic, wrapped up their performance of “Counting Stars”, “Apologize”, “Stop and Stare” and “Secret” with an explosion of fireworks.

It gets even better as the Philippines will also be highlighted in a global telecast reaching an international audience of more than three-quarters of a billion households in over 160 countries under the MTV World Stage global series.

Only on its second year, MTV Music Evolution Manila 2016 proved once again that the Philippines is not only a premier global destination for arts and culture and leisure and adventure, but is also one of the world’s top destinations for world-class entertainment.

ALERON is mounting an experiential concert entitled “Under the Olive Tree”, to be held in two venues at the end of the month. The concert will focus on themes of war and peace, and will showcase works by both international and local composers.

The choir will stage the production on May 28th at the 2nd Floor Glorietta 5 merchant space, and on May 29th at the newly constructed Basilica de San Ignacio on Arzobispo St. in Intramuros. The Sound of Music: Classical Music takes Center Stage in Marinduque’s 3rd Annual “Musika sa Isla”

BOAC, MARINDUQUE—Symphonies are due to wake the sleepy town of Boac, Marinduque as the city holds its third “Musika sa Isla,” the country’s only classical music festival, on May 18, 19, and 21. Premier musicians from Asia are gracing the three-day event.

Musika sa Isla” gathers a diverse roster of musical talents, ranging from pianists to seasoned singers. This year, Franz Chen of Indonesia and Tomoyo Kobayashi from Japan are playing the piano. Japan’s Kazuki Yamamoto is the festival’s lone violinist, while Ivan Jenzer is representing the Philippines on the cello. Filipino soprano singer Arlene Escultero and baritone singer Joseleo Logdat are joining as well.

The festival will take place in the capital’s storied attractions. On May 18, the International Concert starts at 6 p.m. at the St. Raphael Parish. On May 19, the Grand Gala starts at 6 p.m. at the Boac covered court. Watch out for the additional concert on May 21 at the Moriones Arena and Park.

But the better news is, good music is finally affordable. Tickets sell for P200 for each event; students even get 50% off for one.

“Musika sa Isla” is set in the quaint but bustling city of Boac in Marinduque province. The heart-shaped island takes pride in its scenic landscape, rustic charm, and other natural wonders. Its near zero-crime crate and impressive agri-based economy are attracting curious wanderers as Marinduque poises itself as a budding tourist destination. Once dubbed as the country’s “forgotten paradise,” it’s time for us to remember the beauty we’ve always had, the beauty we need to recognize. An easy bus trip away, JAC Liner even includes the RORO pass with their advanced reservations now available online.

The third annual classical music festival is supported by AGREA Philippines, a local social enterprise that hopes to revitalize agriculture in the island of Marinduque.
