Ever Bilena partners with Hope for Lupus Foundation

PRESS RELEASE

The country’s leading cosmetics brand, Ever Bilena, together with the Chamber of Cosmetics Industry of the Philippines (CCIP), is extending a helping hand to patients of Lupus as it officially partners with Hope for Lupus Foundation to help raise awareness on the chronic autoimmune disease.

Occurring when the body’s immune system attacks the muscles and organs, at least 30 to 50 in 100,000 of the population in the Philippines are victims of Lupus. This disease can be difficult to diagnose as its symptoms often imitate other ailments. Its most distinctive symptoms are a butterfly-shaped rash on the face from the bridge of nose to the cheeks, fatigue or fever, joint pain, stiffness and swelling, skin lesions that worsen when exposed to sunlight, shortness of breath, chest pain, dry eyes, headaches, confusion, and memory loss.

“It’s an unpredictable disease. One day I was okay traveling, then the next day I was in the hospital and I didn’t know what was happening to me,” shared Hope for Lupus Foundation founder, Congresswoman Emmeline Aglipay-Villar. “I am lucky that I can afford treatment, but a vast majority of Lupus patients in the Philippines cannot afford even a diagnosis, much less treatment and medication.”

#WALANGPASOK | Class Suspensions, August 3, 2017

When it rains, it pours…and it floods… 😦

They say, parents can decide whether to send their children (esp. those in preschools and lower levels) to school when there’s a heavy down pour of rain. But when you know that exams’ week is coming, it’s really hard to decide. You don’t want your child to be left out of the classes and discussions, which MOST PROBABLY be included in the exams. Why can’t schools just announce whether classes will push through or not?!

#WALANGPASOK | Class Suspensions – August 2, 2017, Philippines

A not so good morning to everyone… Heavy rains and thunderstorms welcomed my morning. When my son woke up, I was not surprised that he did not asked what’s the menu for breakfast but, “May pasok ba, mama?” I thought to myself, “Estudyante na talaga s’ya.” (Hehe!) I would’ve asked that too if I’m still a student. But unfortunately, I replied, “Meron, walang namang announcement si pareng Boying eh.” FYI, Boying Remulla is the governor here in Cavite.

But for everyone’s information, some LGUs already announced the suspension of classes. Here’s an update as of 12pm:

Equinox Phenomenon | “Please stay indoors…”

I read this message from one of our group members in Mommy Bloggers Philippines and thought of sharing this to you guys:

Dear all,

Due to the Equinox phenomenon that will affect us in the next 5 days, please stay indoors especially from 12pm-3pm daily. The temperature will fluctuate till 40 degrees Celsius. This can easily cause dehydration and sun stroke. This phenomena is due to the sun directly positioned above the equator line. Please keep everyone, including yourself, hydrated. Everyone should be consuming about 3 liters of fluid everyday. Monitor everyone’s blood pressure as frequently as possible. Many may get heat stroke. Take cold showers as often as possible. Reduce meat consumption and increase fruits & veg. Heat stroke is no joke! Place a new unused candle outside home area or exposed area. If candle can melt, it’s at a dangerous level. Always place a pail or 2 of water half-filled in living room & each in every room to keep moist temperature down. Heat stroke has no indicative symptoms. Once fainted, its seriously dangerous as organ failure kicks in. Always check lips & eye balls for moisture.

Stay safe and healthy!
