Lumpiang Shanghai


Lumpiang shanghai or spring roll is one of the easiest recipe to do and is a HIT dish in most of the Filipino gatherings. Aside from it’s being easy to prepare, the ingredients are not expensive and you can make a LOT for a very cheap price. So, it’s really one of the recommended viands to offer to your visitors.



1 kl ground pork (or beef)

1 onion, minced

1 head garlic, minced

2 carrots, grated

parsley, chopped

1 tbsp garlic powder

2 eggs

2 tbsp flour

salt and pepper to taste

  • Separate each spring roll wrapper carefully and avoid tearing. Set aside.
  • Prepare all ingredients and put them in a large bowl or basin.


  • Mix them all until well-blended.


  • Some gets a portion of the mixture and fry it to know if they still need to adjust the taste before wrapping. In my case, I just bring the mixture very close to my nose and smell it. If it smells good, it’s good to go. Weird eh? Do you have your own way to try your mixture? Share it with us.
  • To start wrapping, lay a piece of spring roll wrapper and scoop a tablespoon of the mixture, spread it horizontally about an inch above the bottom of the wrapper.
  • Get the bottom of the wrapper and flip it over the mixture.
  • Fold both sides toward the center, then roll it up.
  • To seal the wrapper, you can either brush it with beaten egg, cornstarch mixture or even just plain water.


  • Repeat the procedure until you finish all the mixture.



That’s it! Deep-fry it and serve right away. You can also store it in plastic containers and put them in your freezer for future consumption. This can be stored for a week.


It is one of the best make-ahead dishes for your family or even as “baon” of your kids at school. It’s best served with sweet and sour sauce or sweet and chili sauce… or just with plain ketchup! 🙂

Here’s another easy-to-make recipe for your child’s “baon” for school or even as viand at home.

As we all know, most of the children LOOOVE CHICKEN! This is a very delectable chicken recipe…an inviting recipe for our kids!

Let’s try to LEVEL-UP your chicken recipe…

What you will need:

  • ¼ cup butter (melted)
  • ½ cup all purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper (ground)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • ½ cup bread crumbs
  • 1 cup crispy rice cereal
  • 3 boneless chicken breasts (cut in halves)
  • 2 tbsp butter (melted)


Let’s get started!

  1. Preheat oven for 10 minutes.
  2. Coat your baking pan with ¼ cup melted butter. Set aside.
  3. Bowl #1: Mix flour, salt, pepper and garlic powder.
  4. Bowl #2: Beat egg and milk together.
  5. Bowl #3: Mix cheese, bread crumbs,  and cereal.
  6. Dredge chicken pieces in flour mixture, then in egg mixture and then press in the bread crumbs mixture to coat.
  7. Arrange in the prepared baking pan.
  8. Drizzle 2 tbsp butter evenly over chicken.
  9. Bake for 35-40 minutes (350°F).

Sharing with you an easy-to-prepare recipe for your kid’s “baon” at school…

What you will need:

  • cooking spray
  • 1 tsp olive oil/cooking oil
  • ½ cup chopped broccoli
  • ¼ cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 tbsp chopped onion (red onion or sibuyas Tagalog)
  • 3-4 eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • salt to taste
  • a pinch of pepper
  • ½ cup shredded cheese


Let’s get started!


  1. Preheat oven for 10 minutes.
  2. Spray muffin cups with oil/cooking spray.
  3. Whisk eggs, milk, salt and pepper together in a bowl. Set aside.
  4. Heat cooking oil in a pan and sauté broccoli, bell pepper and onion for 5 to 10 minutes.
  5. Once the vegetables are cooked, combine them with the egg mixture and add the cheese.
  6. Spoon about ¼ cup mixture into each muffin cup.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes at 350°F.


And there you have it! A very healthy meal for your kids and family. 🙂
